Terms of Service

By using BookcastAI you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully — they set out your rights and responsibilities when using our text-to-speech service.

1. The Service

BookcastAI ("we", "us", or "our") provides a text-to-speech (TTS) conversion service that transforms EPUB book files into audio recordings. We operate at bookcastai.app (the "Service").

We are a technology service provider only. We convert the text you supply into audio using automated TTS processing. We do not publish, distribute, reproduce, or otherwise exploit the content of any book on your behalf beyond the technical steps required to produce the audio file you request.

Generated audio files are stored in your private account. They are not made publicly available by us and are not shared with any third party except where required by law.

2. Your Account

You must register with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to use the Service. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Copyright & Permitted Content

You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right to convert any EPUB file you upload to audio.

You may only upload content that falls into one of the following categories:

  • Works in the public domain in your country (for example, classic novels available from Project Gutenberg).
  • Works for which you hold or have been granted a licence that expressly permits text-to-speech conversion and personal audio reproduction.
  • Original works of which you are the author or copyright owner.

Uploading a commercially published ebook that you have purchased does not, by itself, grant you the right to create an audio version. Many ebook licences restrict text-to-speech conversion. It is your responsibility to check the licence terms of any book before uploading it.

We do not monitor the content of files you upload. However, we will act on valid copyright complaints as described in Section 4.

4. Copyright Complaints

If you believe that content processed through our Service infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to:

support@bytestudio.com.au

Your notice should include:

  • Your full name and contact details.
  • A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
  • The account email address or any other information that helps us identify the content in question.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

We will review all valid complaints and take appropriate action, which may include removing the content and suspending or terminating the account responsible.

5. Credits & Payment

The Service operates on a prepaid credit system. Credits are purchased in advance and deducted as you use the Service. New accounts receive a free credit allocation at sign-up — no card required.

  • Authorise then capture: when you purchase credits, your card is authorised immediately and the payment is captured within 3 days.
  • 3-day refund window: you may request a refund within 3 days of the transaction date by contacting support@bytestudio.com.au. Refunds are subject to our approval and are not guaranteed.
  • No refund after 3 days: once the 3-day window has passed, the payment is final and no refund will be issued.
  • Credits never expire as long as your account remains active.
  • If a job fails due to a Service error, any credits deducted for that job will be returned to your account balance.
  • Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

For full details, see our Refund Policy.

We reserve the right to change credit pricing. Any price change will be communicated at least 14 days in advance and will not affect credits you have already purchased.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload content that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or harmful.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or probe our systems in an unauthorised manner.
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our prior written consent.
  • Use automated scripts to interact with the Service in a way that degrades performance for other users.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that audio output will meet any particular standard of quality.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including any loss of data or unauthorised access to your account.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will not exceed the total amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after any change constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at support@bytestudio.com.au.
